COMBINED TTR AND WINDING RESISTANCE TESTER IN ONE BOX

There are two interface options available. The externally-controlled model MWA300 is a ‘black box’ style package that is remotely con- trolled by PowerDB software running on an external PC (not provided). The MWA330A model features an optional built-in 12-inch touch- screen computer. PowerDB software provides the unit with a common user interface to minimise operator training and delivers a seamless interface to the computer application, PowerDB Lite (or Pro). PowerDB Lite software is included with the MWA3 Series. Typical end users of the MWA3 Series include power utilities, electri- cal testing companies and field commissioning, service and mainte- nance personnel.

THE MEGGER MWA3 SERIES Transformer Winding Analyzer is de- signed to perform transformer ratio and winding resistance testing in one box, quickly and efficiently. It is an advanced three-phase portable transformer test system that reduces set-up time, increases job-site safety and delivers improved productivity versus individual instrument testing. The unit’s light weight (15 kg) and small size (280 x 280 x 460 mm) make it 40% lighter to carry and easier to store. The MWA3 Series provides complete ratio, phase and winding resist- ance measurements for a three-phase transformer. All ratio and wind- ing resistance tests are performed in one instrument with one three- phase lead-set connection. Testing complex three-phase transformers becomes simpler with the MWA300 Series, as the operator uses one setup, one connection and one common test form for a consistent, easy-to-learn test method.

The following tests are performed with the MWA3 Series, all with one instrument and one three-phase lead-set connection: 3-phase turns ratio, 3-phase winding resistance, auto vector detection, heat-run test, OLTC/continuity (make- before-break), core demagnetisation, magnetic balance/flux distribution, excitation current, polar- ity, and phase angle deviation. CYLINDRICAL SENSORS OFFER STRENGTH E ngineered for arduous conditions, the Leuze 328 series sensor is based on the optical platform of the well-known standard Leuze 318B series. However, the new device features a metal sleeve in the housing. The operational sensors available in the new Leuze cylindrical series, which range from throughbeam photoelectric sensors to retro- reflective photoelectric sensors to light scanners with sensitivity adjustment via teach button, are designed with the option of a cable or plug con- nection. An adjustable retro-reflective photoelec- tric sensor model with a polarisation filter is also available for tricky applications. With ranges of 1 m (light scanners), 6 m (ret- ro-reflective photoelectric sensors) and 15 m (throughbeam photoelectric sensors), Leuze cy- lindrical sensors are ideal for a variety of appli- cations for object detection in materials handling and packaging technology. The sensors are especially popular for integra- tion into constricted production facilities as well as into assemblies in transport systems or other machinery. In many production processes and in- ternal transport systems, the optical sensors are used for the detection of objects and thereby con- trol processes or partial steps. The highly visible light spot facilitates alignment and two antivalent outputs expand the application options. The Leuze sensors are available from Counta- pulse Controls, which has provided sensing solu- tions to business across southern Africa for over forty years. The Johannesburg based company operates a technical hotline to ensure that cus- tomers have ready access to relevant applications and operational information.
